STREET LIFE, CLIMBING A FOGGY MOUNTAIN

AND OTHER HIDDEN STORIES

38CC - Delft, The Netherlands

ADRIAAN REES

Independent Art Space 38CC in Delft invited me for a solo exhibition because they knew me as an artist who was also working for the city of Delft as a curator and art manager for the Exchange project 400 years Delft-Jingdezhen. For this exhibition I wanted to show works from different points of view and from different periods of my career. Working together with other artists was always essential in my work. It helps me understand my own work in a better way and it can bring new ways for future work. Besides very deep and personal sculptures and installations, in this setting I also showed several works with other artists like Hochzeit with Dutch muralist Gijs Frieling, a graffiti piece with Sam Rees, vases with Liansheng Li and a new collaboration with the master painter from Royal Delft, Wendy Steenks. I worked with her before in Jingdezhen for the city of Delft in the Exchange project. For 38CC I asked her to paint in her typical Blue and white style The Tank, a work about War.
